Women's Hockey Association of Binghamton
The Women's Hockey Association of Binghamton was founded in the winter of 2003 to fill an obvious hole in the local hockey community. With upwards of twenty women playing in different men's leagues around Binghamton and nowhere for new players to get started after they turned 18, it became clear that there was both the need and desire to form a team. With the help of The Polar Cap's Bob Bruhn, a women's hockey team in Binghamton is finally a reality!
The Southern Tier Storm will be accepting membership throughout the Summer! Our skill levels range widely, so don't be intimidated if you have never played before. We're looking for new and veteran players alike!
The cost is between $10 and $15 per session, depending on the number of participants. Practices are on Wednesdays from 6:00PM - 7:00PM at the BCC Ice Center beginning July 28th and running through August 25th. Dates for our games are available on our schedule.
For those of you who have never played before, rental equipment is available at The Hockey Shop on Upper Front Street. Cost is $25 a month for skaters for a maximum of one month; goaltender equipment may be available upon request. The rental equipment is used, but relatively un-grungy. After the rental period is over you have the option to purchase any or all of the equipment directly from The Hockey Shop with your rental fee deducted from the final cost. The team also has some used equipment that can be borrowed on a session by session basis.
